About me

I am an educator who has a couple of years experience of teaching at the undergraduate level. I was born in a small town in Malaysia as a third-generation citizen. My grandfather moved from Kerala, India, under the British Kangani system. I was raised by my single mother who was an English and art teacher. I remember saving up to buy a blackboard when I was eight so that I could play pretend more effectively. I had a roster of imaginary students and engaged in hours of pedagogy and course building for years in my younger life. My imaginary students graduated and it was time for me to get a real job. I ended up doing law and I was the first in my family to earn a college degree. After passing my Bar exams, I was unsure of which career path to follow. I was then invited by the Dean of my college to substitute teach a course on English Land Law. After I got done teaching my first undergraduate class in 1999, I knew then that I did not want to do anything else for the rest of my life. I am forever indebted to my Dean for her coaching and guidance that has led me down this path. I am also indebted to my mother for inspiring me to be an artist both on canvas and in the classroom.
